Meet Joanne Peterson

Joanne Peterson is a lifetime local government and transit human capital executive with more than 30 years’ experience, who most recently served as the Chief Human Capital Office for Los Angeles Metro Transit. As the Chief People Officer within a public utility, County government and a large regional Transportation Agency, Joanne gained extensive experience in designing and implementing initiatives focused on building equity within internal and external operations. She brings demonstrated results in advancing the use of historically underused businesses within the direct purchase and contracting needs of public agencies.

Prior to joining The Athenian Group, Ms. Peterson held various executive Human Resource positions for leading municipalities as Los Angeles County Metro Transportation Authority, County of Marin California and City of Seattle Public Utilities. She a strategic, visionary leader and supportive staff mentor who will gain respect and buy-in from all levels while providing solid people-oriented services that sustain healthy workplace cultures.

Joanne strives to deliver meaningful change in the workforce through creative, passionate, and efficient methodology. She excels in leading diverse teams and guiding organizations through adversity and truly transformational objectives. And has strong interest and experience in Social Impact Initiatives, building cultures focused on Equity and Inclusion and Advancing Women in the business environment.
